Types of mixed metals

In the following, we will discuss the types of mixed metals that exist:

Darth (fluorescent) ballasts

These are complete fluorescent lights that have copper inside. It must not include polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Electronic ballasts (equipment that keeps stable and limits the intensity of the lamp) are subject to an agreement between buyer and seller.

Vader sealed units

These are whole steel compressors that come from the condensers of air conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers…they have no hazardous materials such as refrigerants or polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB). No loose or extra iron.

Elmo mixed electric motors

These are whole or dismantled electric motors that are mainly made of copper. They may have aluminium material wound if the buyer and seller agree. Excessive steel accessories such as gear reducers are not permitted, but do not include sealed units or cast iron compressors.

Small Elmo electric motors

The only difference with the Elmo electric mixed motors is that these motors must be the size of a basketball or smaller.

Sheema shredder electric motors

They are also called shredders or meatballs. It is a mixture of copper and aluminium material that comes from the crushing of iron and is made up of motors without a casing. May include insulated copper wire harnesses if agreed between seller and buyer. There may be a percentage of other contaminants and no free iron or sealed units.

Shelmo shredded electric motors

As above, they are also referred to as shredders or meatballs. It is a mixture of copper-containing material from iron shredding that is made up of motors with no casing. It can have up to 5% of material wound on aluminium and insulated copper wires if both parties agree. There may be a percentage of other contaminants and no free iron or sealed units.

Zebra (high density)

High density non-ferrous metals produced by media separation technology containing brass, copper, non-magnetic stainless steel and copper wire. Must be dry and free of excess oxidation.

Zeppelin (Light Density)

Light density non-ferrous metals produced by media separation technology and containing fine gauge aluminium and magnesium. Must be dry and oxidation-free material.

Zeyda insulated copper shredded wire

Is primarily insulated copper wire (ICW) recovered by mechanical or physical separation. May contain other metals in small percentages that were not separated. It has to be free of radioactive material, slag or ash.

Zorba non-ferrous shredded scrap (predominantly aluminium)

It is a combination of non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, copper or zinc in elemental or alloyed form. It must be free of radioactive material, slag or ash. Material that has been generated by eddy current, screening, flotation, air separation, other segregation techniques or a combination of these.

Zurik non-ferrous shredded sensor scrap (predominantly stainless steel)

It is a combination of non-ferrous metals such as stainless steel, lead, magnesium… In elemental or alloyed form. It must be free of radioactive material, slag or ash. Material that has been generated by computer-aided detection equipment.
